Complete print shop
Dad’s hobby needs a new home

Printing was my dad’s passion and hobby. He got his first press, a Victor, around 1935 and by the time he passed away he had built an amazing collection of equipment. Everything is in wonderful if not museum quality condition. Most stuff has been rebuilt and repainted. A lot is still new in boxes and that which isn’t is still in great shape. I can’t begin to list all the stuff that is in Dads print shop. I am trying to find a home where it will be respected and not scrapped. Dad went through all the type the last 5 years and scrapped all fonts that were corroded or not up to his standards. We are having an auction at his farm to sell off all my parents possessions on 08/01/09 and 08/02/09 and will include the print shop as one unit. I would like to find a home for dads dream. you can call Sues Auction Service or myself and we can arrange a bid for you. We should have 45 or so days after the property is sold to get everything out. If you are interested call me and we will work something out . We are asking $5000.00 minimum bid for the lot. but it going to someone who wants to use it not scrap it will have , priority. It’s in SouthBend.Indiana, 120 miles east of Chicago. Please call me William Kennedy at 269-683-0356 or Sue’s Auction Service 574-291-4171 or Email me.

To all the wonderful letterpress people that contacted me about Dads print shop .THANK YOU . My Dad would have so proud with the responses we got from phone calls,Emails, and people coming to see the shop .It was truly inspiring . For those interested we sold the shop for around 6000.00 . My nephew came to me the day of the auction and asked if he could keep Dads first press the little blue victor . I have offered the buyer a 700.00 discount if he would allow our family to keep it and he is ” thinking about it ” thanks again to all the great people I met from Briar Press . they will get a nice donation when I get paid.
