Friends of Bowne is having a party and exhibition of books and ephemera printed at Bowne & Co., Stationers. Barbara Henry and Robert Warner, former master printers at Bowne & Co., will be there, as well as former Bowne volunteers, friends of Bowne, friends of the Seaport District, members of Save Our Ships, and fans of letterpress printing and printing history.

Come ready to make your own print! Festivities commence at 7pm.

RSVP and invite friends on Facebook: http://on.fb.me/dSepbZ

For those who aren’t already aware, Bowne’s parent institution, the Seaport Museum New York, closed Bowne in mid-February in a massive downsizing of their staff and services. Concerned about the fate of the print shop and its collection of antique presses and type, former workers began an advocacy group, Friends of Bowne. Visit our website and Facebook page for more information, and please spread the word!

Many thanks to Dan Morris and Bryan Baker at The Arm for providing space, enthusiastic help, and press time. Coeur Noir, specialty printers in Williamsburg, graciously donated paper for our broadside.
