Letterpress course

I discovered letterpress recently and have been inspired and informed by reading the many discussions posted on Briar Press. Not knowing where to start I discovered a posting to a letterpress course in Rockley NSW. I attended this course and it was the best adventure I have been on in some time. The course was Letterpress 101.2 and was facilitated by William Amer both a printer and a performing tenor. I had no background in printing at all but came away armed with enough information to purchase my own platen floor press and can’t wait to get started. It is a hands on course that gives you enough experience, confidence and inspiration to continue the letterpress journey on your own. Rockley as a destination in itself is worth the travel and the hospitality shown to me by both William and his lovely wife made the experience complete. I would recommend this course to both those looking into letterpress as a hobby or potential business.

Your testimonial validates the oft given advice to those new to the craft. Get some instruction. Much may be learned from this forum and from printed material, but hands on instruction is best.
I must admit my bias. I am a teacher of printing.
