Join us at the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1 for a two-day letterpress printing and bookmaking workshop. Explore the process of printing and making your own books by making a book from start to finish. On day one, you can print your own parts for the book using the museum’s fine collection of wood type in the classroom. We will discuss imposition, layout, mock-ups and simple printing techniques. Then on day two, put your letterpress printed pieces together to create a book. As a class we will examine a couple different simple structures. The workshop runs from 9 am until 5 pm on both days.
The cost is $275 per person with the museum providing materials and tools. No experience with letterpress printing or bookbinding is necessary, but some familiarity is helpful. Space is limited, so sign up early. Join us in Two Rivers, Wisconsin for this fun and informative workshop!
