Bodoni, the person, his fonts, his times

Bodoni, the person, his fonts, his times.

A lecture on the great Italian type designer and printer, Giambattista Bodoni, will be given by author Valerie Lester 1:30 pm, Saturday, June 17th, at the Museum of Printing, 15 Thornton Ave, Haverhill, MA.

We do not give sufficient credit to the invisible masters whose hands and eyes created the typefaces we routinely take for granted. After this lecture, you will have a greater insight into Bodoni, the person, the font and the times.

Lester’s biography on Bodoni is the first in English and has received rave reviews. Scholarly, but eminently readable, the book is itself an example of the beautiful printing and exceptional design for which Bodoni was celebrated. She is an independent scholar and translator and her presentations are highly regarded.

Make certain you have the author autograph her book for you.

The lecture is free for all.
