Vandercook #3 Tennessee

Up for auction is a Vandercook #3 serial number 15004. As you can see the press was in very rough shape when my wife and I purchased it. As far as I know we are the second owners. We meticulously removed every component and used a method called electrolysis to remove the 60+ years of grease, grime, and rust all the while not damaging the original metal. If you are concerned about the owner restoration just know that I am a design engineer for an automation company and I have been restoring antique equipment since my teens. All metal components went through the electrolysis bath and then were either painted or polished. We replaced the original wood bushings on the rider rollers with nylon bushings. Once we finished restoration we used the press for the next two years. Due to a recent move we are downsizing our shop. The only items missing are the ink distribution roller and the positive lock up bar. Both can be purchased from online retailers (I can assist if need be). The press inks up just fine without the distribution roller. After putting ink on the vibrator make a few passes back and forth with the press in trip mode and you have prefect distribution. The form ink rollers are in perfect shape. Press will also come with some tympan and Mylar top sheep. The Vandercook #3 is a hard to find press and we loved that it took no electricity to run as well as having a smaller footprint. Feel free to ask any and all questions. Price is $10,500 OBO.
