rollers, ink

I print on a 1930’s 10x15 C&P platten press and have been having trouble with inking lately. I have read through all the previous postings and tried many different things but to no avail. I was wondering how long a set of rollers usually lasts? I purchased mine about 7 years ago from NA graphics along with morgan expansion trucks.

Also does anyone know an addative for ink to give it more tack? I usually use VanSon rubber based inks but sometimes they are too loose. They only have a product to make it looser and I want more tack.

Thanks for your help

We use spray powder or a super fine corn starch.
I have also used whats called waterglass (sodium silicate) Its a liquid that can be added to the ink giving it more tack. A few drops go a long way. Google waterglass to find it.

Bruno - Thanks for the tip, I will give them a try.

hi bruno - one more question… what kind of spray powder do you use? i notice the sodium silicate comes in a powder as well. which method works the best for you?

thanks again
