The Platen Press is a working Printing Museum dedicated to preserving the arts of hot metal casting & composition, letterpress, multigraphing, stone lithography, and bookbinding. The Museum contains the extensive personal collections of Paul Aken.

Paul uses the equipment as a hobby printer and typecaster for his personal needs. He also does some instruction and lets new letterpress enthusiasts use the equipment. There is no charge for the instruction or use of equipment except that for each hour received, the enthusiast is required to help around the museum for an hour.
