Printing Presses in the Graphic Arts Collection

Published by the National Museum of American History in Washington DC, this 75-page illustrated booklet is essential not only as a guide to the Smithsonian Institution’s letterpress collection, but also as a resource for anyone interested in a thorough introduction to many well-known presses and their makers.

The closing of the Hall of Graphic Arts in the Smithsonian Institute in December 2003 removed many rare presses from public view. However, many of these presses are described in this booklet which is still available free online in PDF format.
