Virginia Arts of the Book Center

The Virginia Arts of the Book Center is a community of artists exploring books, paper, and printmaking in Charlottesville, Virginia. Our mission is to promote and preserve the humanities through creative arts, literacy, and education. We sponsor hands-on activity, interdisciplinary projects, demonstrations, and outreach. We maintain a letterpress, printmaking, and bookbinding shop with a gallery and a classroom. We provide training and education for artists, writers, and community members. The VABC is a part of the Virginia Center for the Book and a program of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities.

Hello! The Virginia Arts of the Book Center unfortunately lost its institutional funding and home in Summer 2025. But it’s reopening this week (November 7, 2025) as a member-run non-profit, Virginia Book Arts (vabookarts.org)! I’ll submit a new listing for that—just wanted to let folks know this lives on with a new name, location, and structure!

Best wishes,
Amanda Visconti (on behalf of Virginia Book Arts Steering Committee)
