This is the “Empress” press recently acquired. 99% complete but has seen several colour changes. Only identifying markings are the words “Empress” and Morfitt, Nottingham raised into the casting of the larger cog.

I had seen the site you mention and on closer examination it looks like the Empress was an almost exact copy of the Cropper “Minerva” press illustrated there. It has the same unusual set-off knob and the slight crank in the roller carrier arm. Maybe I’ll start looking for info on the Minerva!
