Cleaning Metal Furniture

I have just purchased some metal furniture on an ebay auction. The lot of furniture came covered with dirt, mud and old grime and ink. What is the best method to remove the years of dirt and grime from the furniture? Thanks, Larry

Get some TSP at the hardware store. The granular form, not the substitute or liquid. Mix with water in a plastic bucket. Put furniture in and let it soak for about a day. Then scrub with a stiff bristle brush. Rinse and dry.

And once you’ve given it the TSP treatment, give it a coat with something that’ll keep it rust-free for years to come :)

Same problem, I used Purple Power Concentrate Degreaser from an auto parts store. Soaked it in there over night and sloshed it around a times. Rinsed it all very good with water, put all in the hot sun. Let it dry, sprayed some black enamel of the front and back. Looks all new.
99.9% of the caked on ink came off.
I did the same thing with all 75 Coin Wrenches, but I didn’t paint. I soaked them in WD40 and then spread out on newspaper to catch excess.
