Iron Acorn Press

We do hands-on printing demos for school and community groups. We also print projects for our own and occasional use. We commissioned the reproduction of a Smith-Hoe 1820’s handpress in 2007 from Stephen Pratt and received the press in the fall of 2008, opening for use in January of 2009. The goal is for visitors to experience typesetting and printing circa 1830’s. They can leave with a printed piece and a feel for the inherent capabilities of producing a text by letterpress using a handpress.
