Crocodile Industries Hot Foil Press

I just started to set up some hot foil presses made by the now defunct, Crocodile Industries. Unfortunately I don’t have a manual. I’ve poked around online, but haven’t had any luck.
I have it plugged in and connected to the air compressor. I was hoping that I could also use it with the heat off to emboss. I *think* I did all the start up steps correctly, but the press won’t come down when I hit the button. Could the heat have something to do with the press mechanism? Warm up some hydraulic fluid or something??

i would look for a safety. is there a second button for other hand? a machine electrician would be helpful. It sounds like a cicuit is still open. is it all air over Hyd? or is there a motor that should be pumping?
i doubt there is a heat requirement for the fluid. hydraulic fluid is rather thin and easily runs down to -30F (when clean) before it needs to be coaxed. snowplows use hyd fluid.

Amanda, most of the Crocks stuff was air operated and while it did run well when new, over time the air rams and more importantly the small air switches that control the rams often fail. You must use dry air…that is you MUST run the air through a moisture dryer to remove all water, if you don’t the moisture in your compressed air will cause all sorts of problems. You mentioned hydraulic fluid, is there hydraulic fluid used on this machine. I’ve never seen any of the Crocks machines that used hyd fluid. All the ones I’ve seen have been air ram with electric heat.. What type of machine is it? He made a lot of ribbon stampers and pin back button machines. Carl
