Do I need to worry about these bubbles?
I am working on restoring a Chicago no 11 press and I am wondering if this part where the ink goes on if I need to worry about the bubbles? Does this part need to be 100% flat?

That looks like old ink or paint built up on the ink table. It’s pretty thick and I’d clean it off. But is that absolutely necessary? Probably not. If you really want to know, try to print something with it as is. If you’re getting good results, then leave it as it is. If not, clean it up and try again. If you still get bad prints, it may not have been the ink table, but it will be nice and clean.
Printing is experimentation…just try it and see what happens. If you don’t like what happens, try something different. Repeat as desired.
Looks like rust cancer. Flat and smooth is best.
