These photos are of a British-made Model press (6x9 chase).
Firstly, the rubber bushes on the platen have perished. I am thinking of replacing these with suitable springs, unless anyone thinks that would be a bad idea? I presume these rubbers were original, and served to provide resistance to platen adjustment screws.
Secondly, does anyone know what the 6 threaded holes on the face of the platen were for? The tympan is fitted by separate brackets fixed to the sides.
