Protecting worn metal press surfaces that will touch ink/type?
We are refurbishing a C&P pilot press in good mechanical condition, but which has a bit of worn paint and surface rust. The current plan is to coat the noncritical frame surfaces with something like fluid film, but we’re uncertain how we should protect the surfaces that will contact ink/type once we brush the rust off of those. Will wax or oil on the ink disk interfere with inking? Thank you!
no oil or wax on ink disk. press wash and rub dry.
rest of the press will enjoy a oil rub down.
