Lock/jam nut on a C&P O.S.
Hello community! I was giving an 8x12 Chandler & Price OS a tune up recently. It required platen leveling which I have done on many C&Ps over the past few years. Everything went smoothly until I noticed that when tightening the upper right-hand lock nut, with minimal tightening, it would completely back off the impression bolt. I haven’t experienced this in any of my prior leveling work. The work around was to keep the lock nut finger tight. Can anyone share insight into why the impression bolt would do this? Could it be bent slightly? Thanks for your thoughts!
