Virginia Book Arts is a thriving community of letterpress printers, bookbinders, printmakers, & paper artists based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Over the last 30 years (under various past sponsors, similar names), we’ve practiced & passed along traditional letterpress, bookmaking, & related skills while encouraging innovation & collaboration.

VBA practices, preserves, and expands access to book arts through learning opportunities and participation in a creative community. We have maintained an open studio policy, welcoming all who are interested in book arts—from the newly curious to the professional artist. We consider this outreach and inclusiveness to be integral to our mission.
