Chandler & Price 10x15 ID

Hi everyone,

I was lucky enough to get ahold of this beautiful Chandler & Price Old Style 10x15. It’s had its treadle and feed boards replaced. I’ll be positioning it better in the garage, oiling it up, and getting it printing again.

I can’t find its serial number of 5718 (see photo) listed anywhere. I assume it was manufactured in either 1895 or 1896 based on existing serial numbers. I plan to add it to the census at https://monksandfriars.org/Chandler-and-Price-Census

I wanted to see if anyone here had any insights.

See the C & P serial number lists at https://www.greendolphinpress.com/letterpress-faq.html#3.04 and scroll down to “Old Series.” It looks like you have an Old Series 10 X 15 press manufactured in 1895. The platen should measure 12 X 18 inches since the press size is given by the inside measurements of the chase. I have a similar press manufactured in 1890.

Edit: I see Steve Varvaro posted the same link on another thread a few days ago. I just found it independently, so confirm that it still works.
