Daughaday Model 3 ink disk mechanism
howdy everyone. I recently purchases this, my first press and am trying to get it functioning. I am having trouble figuring out how the advancing mechanism for the ink disc works. There is a piece broke off the casting that I’m guessing matched the one next to it for mounting the mechanism. I found what I assume is the right piece in a box that came with the press but I haven’t figured out how it mounted correctly to perform it’s function, it also has a lot of bend to it which seems dubious to be intentional. I’ve tried to look at examples online but cant find anything close up enough from the right angle to see clearly. Can anyone with one of these presses help me with some pics of how it is suppose to look/function? After this I need to figure out grippers and rollers. attaching photos, sorry for poor lighting. many thanks,
Chris

just to update, after scrutinizing photos on ebay listings some more I figured out the correct orientation of the ratchet mechanism. It does not seem to be aligning to the ring of teeth on the bottom of the ink disc like I assumed it should, though it does still seem like it will kick it along. I need to figure out how to cobble together something to replace the second mounting bracket but that doesn’t feel too daunting.
One possible solution would be to find at a hardware store an eyebolt with a threaded stem and an eye with an inside diameter about the same as the remaining bracket and the threaded part about 1/2 inch longer than the distance from the broken surface to alignment with the hole in the remaining part. Drill a hole in the broken stub slightly smaller than the threaded part of the eye screw and get a screw thread tap the size and thread count of the eyebolt and tap the hole so you can screw the eyebolt into it far enough to put the “eye” even with the remaining bracket. You can then mount the pawl assembly. If the pawl does not align precisely you might be able to bend the eye screw a little to get it right.
thank you, yes that exact strategy had crossed my mind as one option.
I can get more photos if needed
