The San Francisco Center for the Book (SFCB) is devoted to teaching the many arts and crafts that go into making books by hand. Through workshops, exhibitions and public events, the SFCB promotes both knowledge of traditional book arts and exploration of experimental book forms.

The Imprint of the SFCB is our publishing arm, whose annual artist-in-residence program and periodic Small Plates series offer emerging and established Bay Area artists with technical and studio support to create letterpress-printed artists’ book editions. The Imprint’s mission is to bring fresh perspectives to the book arts field and to raise awareness of the genre in the in the wider art community.
