Originally created by Edd Smith and Lou Frimkess as the Advertisng Designers Type Studio around 1950. They bought a new Vandercook 4T and type and cabinets from the great Saul Marks’ Plantin Press. Saul needed money to visit family in Hungary. The location was the Braun Bldg.a loft at Main and Pico in Los Angeles. The Type Studio did all the typography for the design office. They bought lino and mono composition from all the best shops in town. Handset the display, made up and pulled the repros.
