Letterpress Print Exchange

Sounds like a lot of work to get an exchange of 10 letterpressed pieces. Are you aware that an Amalgamated Printers’ Association membership entitles you to receive a MONTHLY bundle of goodies produced by it’s 150 letterpress members? Each member is required to print AT LEAST four times a year.

Created pieces are sent to our mailer, who then collates and assembles everything that has been received since the last mailing, and puts together 150 bundles which he mails around the 10th of each month to all the members. It is simply fantastic to receive a bundle each month.

While the APA is a wonderful organization, it is a limited membership and only 150 printers at a time are able to receive and partake in the exchange iirc.

I think this is a wonderful idea for the rest of us. While 10 might seem small, everything must start somewhere. 10 seems line a nice even number.

I just selected 10 as a number in case there weren’t that many participants. I figured most printers would create a print that they would sell or distribute elsewhere and asking for 10 to be set aside for the exchange wouldn’t be too much to ask.

I have put out several posts as well as sending emails directly to printers I know. I would love for a lot of people to sign up. We could always raise the number of prints if people wanted.

I am hoping more people will sign up. I think this could be fun. ;)

The swap is growing. We now have about 30 participants and some really great ones at that. There is still plenty of time to sign up if interested. We have actually changed the guidelines to include getting a print from everyone instead of just 10.
