Tabletop Press

Hi All,

I’m a graphic designer looking to place an ad for a tabletop press that I can use to print invitations, cards, etc. I’m new to letterpress so I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on brand, size, etc? Thanks so much for any info you can give me!

Hi Ginna,

This set of questions gets asked all the time :)

Briar Press is perhaps the best site for newbies (in which I include myself).

Five Roses press has a very good & useful intro, plus a description of various presses:

As to tabletop presses to buy, Briar Press has a section on Classifieds. Also check on eBay.

The most oft-quoted/discussed tabletop presses seem to be (a) the C&P Pilot (plus its variants) and (b) the Kelseys.

Hope this helps.

Ginna,

Also, check out www.excelsiorpress.org and ebay. I just bought a 6x9 restored Victor through Excelsior. They also have all of the supplies needed.

i would check out excelsior press, alan knows lots about letterpress, he also has some nice table top presses for sale, lots of supplies too. good luck

Thanks so so much! I had a feeling my question was a bit redundant! I’m so excited to get started, I can barely stand it, but I know that I have to take my time and find all the right equipment. Again, thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it!
