the size of the tympan on a 10 x 15 westmann baker

Hi there,

I’m trying to assemble everything I’ll need for my press shop before the press move in date on the weekend. Does anyone know what the tympan size is for a 10 x 15? (or is that the tympan size.

The reason i’m asking is because I want to purchase a die jacket before the press gets here.

Also does anyone know what i’m supposed to be using for tympan paper - does it matter really?

Thanks.

Elle

I suggest calling Fritz at NA Graphics in Colorado. He’ll get you geared up for the 10x15 like he did for me.

I actually want to get a sheet of galvanized steel made at a local metal supermarket as i’m in Canada and it costs a lot to ship.

:)

Thanks.

You can call Fritz and he should be able to tell you the dimensions.

Hi Elle

On my westman and baker the platen is 11 1/4 x 17 7/8.
I cut my tympan to 11 1/4 x 13 and that seems to work.
If you are in Canada try Don Black Linecasting in Toronto he may have the jacket you are looking for .
Good luck It is a fine machine, mine has run for about 30 years for me and more than that for the previous owner.
