26” Chandler and Price Lever Paper Cutter (1917-18)

My father-in-law, Laurence Hines, was an avid letterpress printer for many years. He created his HS yearbook (very small) on a letterpress, and when I met him in 1987 we spent a day getting to know each other as we printed some greeting cards with a poem by Rumi.

He passed away recently and we’re looking for good homes for some of his things. The biggest, of course, is his 26” Chandler and Price lever paper cutter. It’s serial number S2524, which according to an online pdf of C&P serial numbers means that it was made between 1917 and 1918.

It’s in excellent condition, and I can attest to the sharpness of the blade - I’ve watched as it effortlessly sliced through thick stacks of paper.

Our suggested price is $400, simply because we want it to go to someone who would appreciate it, rather than for scrap metal.

Please email me for more information.

Since it’s so large and heavy, you’ll need to pick it up. A forklift and large truck will be necessary!
