Problems With Photopolymer

Hi Guys,

I was looking for any suggestions or help. I am using an Adana 8 x 5 and I’ve just had a metal base made (instead of buying a boxcar base) to mount my photopolymer plates onto. I set it all up and had a fiddle with the setting and packing. My base isn’t quite high enough but I padded it out with paper and managed to get the plates to ‘touch’ the paper. I am pretty certain that there was sufficient pressure and height on the base but it wouldn’t make an impression.

I wasn’t using ink at the time but I’m not sure why there wasn’t any impression?! I’m not sure if the plates aren’t thick enough or too soft?!

Hopefully you can make some sense of this and possibly help me out!

Regards,

Chris

You need a type high gauge to ensure your base with plate is .918. Make sure the packing is correct for proper printing. You may need to ink up the plate to see where the printing is light or too heavy, then adjust where needed. Then are your rollers and trucks new or old which be a factor in inking the plate properly.
