Make your own
Hi,
I can’t seem to find a chase for my press. So, I’m wondering if I can make one out of hardwood. It’s a small press 6x9 C&M no. 1. I thought with the small size it could work. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time,
Julie

I have seen large chases made out of single pieces of plywood. Plywood is strong, rigid and lightweight. I don’t know if it would work as well for such a small press. A welder could probably fabricate a chase for you out of some sort of bar stock, but it might have to be ground down on the edges so that it could lock in.
Thank you Kevin. That’s a great idea.
I should ask my husband if he could make me one then. He has a body shop and has metal stock and welders. I guess I thought if I made it out of wood I could do it myself. I’ll post again and let you know how it turns out.
