Kluge 10x15 and another 8x12 floor model platen

Recently came across an old basement print shop near Scranton, PA. The inheriting family is now attempting to get rid of everything.

I just met them, but said I’d post this information here when I heard the word scrap. I can forward on any inquiries to the family.

From what I saw, they had two floor presses and a huge Craftsmen Chandler and Price paper cutter down there. I believe one may be a Kluge 10x15 and the other possibly a C&P 8x12 (I couldn’t see the name plate). Each press has multiple (a bit corroded) chases and additional rollers hanging around too.

They’d like to sell these and have the buyer arrange the moving out of the basement. I think they’ll entertain any reasonable offers, especially given the difficulty of getting these machines out. They didn’t say whether they’d prefer someone to come take it all or piece by piece, but I think the more that can go at once the better for them. And the less likely it all ends up in the scrap heap.

There are also dozens of type cases, though the general disorder of the shop does not lead me to believe that most of these are complete. On the subject of disorder, it’s a dank, dusty and cluttered shop with pied type here, there, everywhere. It will be a job extracting the machines, but I think if one does, s/he will find really great machines.

Best, Leah
