univers type

This is an opportunity to purchase a full family of Univers. The collection contains almost 500 lbs of type. The price is $1,000, fair and firm.

Univers, designed by the Swiss typographer Adrian Frutiger, is an outstanding example of post-war, European, sans serif design. Introduced in 1957, Univers came to the market, unlike its rival Helvetica, as a full family, being offered in a wide variety of weights, classified by a unique two-number system developed by Frutiger. To simplify the inventory below, I have added the traditional type description after each number as presented in a 1967 Mackensie & Harris catalogue. All the type for sale is new or only lightly used. It was purchased from either Stempel or M&H and is foundry type. Also, note that many 24 pt. fonts are listed as either Large or Small, as two sizes of characters were cast on 24 pt. bodies. All type is fonted, tied, and wrapped.
