Hi Folks,
I am a new member so I’m not sure if this will get posted. I have a Thompson British Automatic Platen which I have had for years but still don’t know about how the “left hand register facility” as described in the handbook works. Is there an extra part which has to be fitted to the machine in order to achive this as I am sure I don’t have it and I don’t even know what it would look like as unlike the Heidelberg version the Thompson handbook is not illustrated. If this is the case does anyone know if it would it be possible to obtain one from anywhere?
I have just had to pay £48.00 for 12 rubber suckers for the feed tube, what a rip-off! last lot I bought were about 61p each. Does anyone know of any other suppliers?
If anyone could help with info on either of the above I would be most obliged.
Many thanks

Foiling kit!
I do not know of a kit, but it is possible. Simply design and make the kit for yourself.

Left hand lays!
If you have a left hand lay fasility, you will also have a knurled knob of the right hand side of the feed paper stack, to adjust the (left and right) position of the stack.

You will also have a changeover on the left (back, nearest you) of the platen to make the lays move from right to left instead of right to left..

Assuming you have these, you will only then need a left hand lay to affix to the platen against which to register. If you do not have one in the drawer, then one can be made from a small piece of reglet or similar material glued to the platen.

The purpose of this facility is to allow accurate backing up. If you are not so-doing, there is not need for this arrangement to come into play.
