This is Frederick W. Goudy’s “Goudy Old Style.” It was cut for American Type Founders Company, and then serving as their basis for Goudy Bold, Extra Bold and Italics. Mr. Goudy received no compensation for the use of his name in these additional faces. Along with these faces ATF cut the capitals as “Goudy Title”, cutting the cap Q to fit the body and avoid a kern. Mr. Goudy didn’t like that!
