Complete Letterpress Shop

I have spent the last fifteen years acquiring the best equipment, materials and supplies to build my shop. Time has come to pass it along to someone who will use it more often than I can. You will find none of the usual scrap that typically accompanies letterpress collections. This is ready-to-print for small-scale commercial, institutional or a hobbyist shop with absolutely EVERYTHING you will need to print business cards to posters. I am still compiling a complete inventory, but here are the highlights:

• Vandercook SP20 Proof Press in excellent working condition
• Challenge Gordon 8”x12” platen press
• Several Boxcar bases for Photopolymer printing. One is 17”x22” and fills the bed of the Vanderccok. Also a few smaller ones
• 23” Challenge paper cutter
• Full Hamilton Furniture Cabinet
• Full Hamilton Reglet cabinet
• Oak double type cabinet
• Oak single type cabinet
• Two metal single type cabinets
• 30 full fonts of very old, large and decorative wood type all in tip-top condition
• Cabinets are full of nice, mostly large point sizes of various gothics, fleurons, dingbats, and decorative and display faces,
• Wire-O Binding system
• Robust reference library with editions of such rarities as “The Practice of Printing,” Finer Points in the Spacing and Alignment of Type” and a cloth cover edition of Rob Roy Kelley’s “American Wood Type”
• All the spacers, lead, scoring and diecutting matrix, extra tympan for both presses, chases, galleys, quoins, paper stock, ink, etc. you need!!

This is among the most smartly-outfitted custom shops on the entire West Coast with some of the most rare wood type anywhere. This all-inclusive, turn-key working shop is priced to move fast at $22,000. I am also willing to move, setup and conduct demonstrations on the major equipment anywhere from Portland to Bellingham for an additional fee.

Please contact me for a complete inventory or, better yet, give me a call and we’ll schedule a time for you to come see for yourself (inventorying it all is quite daunting, best to see it in person!). I do not want to split this shop up as it has been meticulously and lovingly put together with diligent intent and I don’t want to be left with miscellaneous equipment once all the most highly-coveted equipment is gone. Although, I could likely be pursuaded to let the Vandy go alone for the right price…
