Adventures in Letterpress: Chicago Events/Call for Chicago Area Artists

Hi all-

Brandon Mise here of Blue Barnhouse. My book Adventures in Letterpress has hit the bookshelves and we’re doing a few events over the coming months all over America. It features the work of over 80 letterpress printers around the world, including several members of Briar Press (I’ve included a complete listing of artists at the bottom of this post). There will be several opportunities for letterpress printers to get involved at these events; our next two events are being held in Chicago:

Release Party/Letterpress Symposium
Thursday April 10
Columbia College
1104 South Wabash Avenue, Chicago
5:30pm-7:30pm

Details: We will be holding a book release party at Columbia College’s Center for Book and Paper Arts alongside Cathie Ruggie Saunders & Martha Chiplis in celebration of their new book For the Love of Letterpress. After the reception we will be holding a symposium with a number of letterpress printers to discuss the business of letterpress. Book Signing/Letterpress Expo
Saturday April 26th
Powell’s Books Chicago
2850 N. Lincoln, Chicago
2pm-6pm

Details: I will be doing a book signing and we have organized an expo of Chicago area printers who are selling their wares at the event. This will be a heavily advertised event and a great chance to get your press noticed. We still have a few spaces open, cost is only $25 which will cover the expense of food and drink. If you are interested in participating, please send me an email with at [email protected]

Please include examples of your work with either a link to your website or attached photos. The deadline for applying will be Wednesday April 4th.
