Hand-press Point Registration Guides

My handy neighborhood machinist made these adjustable Point Registration Guides for use on my different hand-presses. They are made of hard brass the same size as a 36 point quad, and the needle point is adjustable with a set-screw and removable for sharpening. They can be locked-up in the center gutter of a form, and are moveable as described in Rummonds’ book. The points are set at 1” which allows for the height of the tympans from the surface of the type so less pressure is needed to contact the points. After setting the point positions they can be replaced with hollow-topped quads with no loss of registration. I had several sets made so if anybody needs a pair please contact me off list.
