Off The Rails

I recently hit upon this fix to keep my rollers from “migrating” until the roller shafts pulled out of the saddles or interfered with other parts of the press. The piece of wrought iron is epoxied on the outsides of both saddles. My previous idea of using over-sized washers epoxied to the trucks had only limited success.

This seems to work much better… but I haven’t actually printed anything since the modification was made, so stay tuned.

OK, I’m about a hundred copies into a ream of receipts. So far there are no “migrations” of the rollers and all seems well. I am amazed at how quiet the press is now! My “supervisor”, visible in the top of the image, very much appreciates that as it makes napping much easier.
