Gumming Medium?

Has anyone ever used a gumming medium? I bought some inks and got a free bottle of gumming medium with them. But I have no idea how to use it? Any idea what to use it for?

From what I see this product has nothing to do with inks. Do not use with inks.
I believe it is what we many years ago called “GUM ARABIC” and it was use to “gum up” the image on a litho plate after or before printing to protect it. When pressman was ready to ink up the plate, he would first remopve the gum with a sponge and water. This product was not normally used in conjunction with letterpress.
