A couple of questions about my Vandercook SP15
Hi everyone - I’m learning to use the Vandercook SP15 that I just acquired, and have two questions (probably followed by many more).
1 - The person I bought it from said she runs the motor for the ink drum continuously while printing. Is this necessary or common, or can I just run it long enough to spread the ink, then turn it off.
2 - There are two small nubs, one on each side of the press bed, near the end opposite the motor and rollers. What are these for? They seem to be in the way of the lockup bar if you try to move it too far towards that end of the bed.
Thank you in advance!
Run the motor continuously while printing. This will ensure that the rubber rollers are replenished with ink from the ink drum, providing consistent coverage on your printing form.
The nubs are lock-up pins, which a foot deadbar abuts in lieu of a movable lock-up bar.
