Daughaday Model Fount No. 217
Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a J. W. Daughaday Model #1 press at auction, and it came with a few incomplete sets of type. I was able to track one of the sets to an early company catalog and have identified it as “Model Job Fount, No. 217.” (I’ve attached an image of the font from the catalog.) I’m only missing the capital letter K and I’m hoping someone might have this in their collection that they would be willing to sell or could send me a scan of the letter to have recreated. Any help you can offer would be most appreciated!
The font design seems similar to ornamental text produced by the Cincinnati Type Foundry, but it’s not an exact match.

Your type appears to be Fancy Text. The design received U.S. Design Patent No. 4267 on July 26, 1870. It was cast by the Mackellar, Smiths and Jordan type foundry, Philadelphia, though it might have their older ‘Johnson’ pinmark on the side. It was sold by many other type foundries in the U.S. and in Europe. Here is a link to the 1885 Mackellar specimen book, page 522:
