Printers Type Case ?

I am in possession of a wood box 25 1/4 x 5 3/4 x 1 1/4. It has 10 bins or bays with A - J stamped in the lid opposite the bays. When closed it is secured with two latches. The box has dove tail corners. I have searched The Alembic Press site and all I see is very large layouts. If anyone has any information, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

After collecting type, typecases, and letterpress memorabilia for over 30 years, I think I can safely say that this is NOT a printer’s typecase.

One whole side opens when the lid comes down. It may or may not even be tall enough to hold type upright when closed.

The fact that the compartments are designated A, B, C, etc. simply means that it was used to sort whatever it held alphabetically, perhaps tickets or receipts.

Thanks for the information. At least I can put that to rest.
