Chipboard Printer’s Boxes?

Hello all,

Anyone have a source for folded chipboard printer’s boxes to package up finished jobs in?

We used to have ones that were maybe 7”x10”x5” (almost like envelope boxes) which were great for putting finished runs of invitations in standing up & not stacked.

However, these favorites seem to no longer be available anywhere…or at least anywhere I’ve looked.
Any hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated — thanks!

you can try these guys…. not sure if the pricing is good for you but,,,,, they prob have what you want.

if you find out, let me know! :( i belong to a stationer’s forum, and we’ve been trying to find boxes in sizes to fit A7 invites, in depths of 3+ inches, for a while. both the chipboard and presentation styles. there are many styles to be found in 1-2” depths, but who wants to use 20 boxes on an invitation order?

we’ve even gone as far as contacting packaging companies and tried to get special boxes made with a large minimum purchase, with not much luck.

the closest i have found was a 7.5 x 5.5 x 3” tuck-top white cardboard box. they work great for mailing invitations (are very sturdy), but might be overkill if you just need something to put them in to give to the client. wouldn’t hold nearly as much, either.

If it’s worth your time, you might learn to make a simple box to accompany your order, custome fit to the stack you are enclosing.

Box making is not rocket science, and can be learned by simply taking apart a box of the style you like and imitating it in your shop with paste and chipboard. Visit your local library and check out the elementary bookbinding books for help in using the necessary supplies.

I, too, am amazed that boxes for larger quantities of standard-size stationery are not commonly offered. Some companies will make custom boxes, but the minimum quantities are huge. I’ve resorted to making my own, but they’re very time-consuming and I do it only for special gifts. There are lots of box templates on the internet. Maybe you can find one and modify it to the sizes you need.

you’re right, john henry, and i have done this in the past with envelopes/liners, pocketfolds and such. i have actually looked at using a die to make my own. but the raw paper size i would need would be a little over 15” x 22” (for a 7.5 x 5.5 box with 5” full lid sides) and my die cutter can’t handle that large of a die. plus, i haven’t looked into getting chipboard stock that large.

basically with only 1 me, and 2 full time jobs, i would refer to pay someone else to do it. :)

See if Thrifty Box in Washington, D.C has what you need.

wow, thanks everybody.
i can’t seem to find a “thrifty box” in d.c…is there another name they might go by?

if i find anything, i’ll post it for sure!

hello again,

still having zero luck.
bluetulipdesign, could you prettiest please tell me where you get your 7.5 x 5.5 x 3” tuck-top boxes from? thank you!

hi! sure, i ordered them from papermart: http://www.papermart.com/Product%20Pages/Product.aspx?GroupID=1171&SubGr... . they also have 7x5x4 sizes (and many others) but i needed the extra 1/2” for A7 envelopes.

wonderful, thanks so much!
if i ever do find any other boxes i’ll post it for sure…

This is exactly what I’m looking for too - to fit A2 size notecards. I’ll post if I find anything…

I’m not sure if you’ll find something useable here, but you might try this page on Uline’s website. It seems to have a really broad range of sizes available. They aren’t the cheapest option, though.

A2-size notecards? That’s 420 x 594 mm… a large notecard!

Thomas - that’s announcement size, not European paper sizes. That’s an envelope size of 4 3/8” x 5 3/4”.
