Heidelberg Windmill Lay Bar Does Not Go Up Entirely

I have recently bought a Heidelberg windmill. But I have this problem. I wanted to print in gauge and engaged the lay bar. It did go up near the tympan but not entirely until end of the cycle. Due to this problem, the arm in the swing away lay gauge i bought in boxcar didn’t go down all the way and could hit the base. Attached some pictures for reference. Every time, I have to push the knob manually to the platen side, so it went in entirely. It stuck half way, not sure what’s problem. Is there anything i can fine tune at this part of the press? Hope someone can help out. Many thank.

Hi,

Does the press have the lower tympan bar installed? The swing gauge lever is pushed by the bar.

I’d ensure the chrome knob is locked properly when running with gauges.

I’d ensure the lay spindle (the rod that goes through the platen) is lubricated and moves very freely for the entire travel. The tube on the right side of the platen is an oil port that should be marked with yellow paint.

Sometimes, the swing lever can be blocked by the rail attached under the tympan bar. If you don’t use that rail, it can be easily removed.

If you have the parts-book, we can accurately identify which parts we are discussing.

Thanks AnonyMouse. I have done all the steps and lubricated all the parts. It still stuck half way. It doesn’t go all the way in.

Tried all, no luck. I think I have to ask some experience guy in town to help me on that. Thanks AnonyMouse.
