Lay Guide Screw Replacement Heidelberg Windmill

Hi there,

Really need some expertise here!

One of the Lay Guide Adjuster Screws broke in half on me and after scouring the web to find a replacement, it finally arrived.

My next question is, how on earth do I get it in? The bolt is bigger at one end and doesn’t simply slide through the C shaped metal piece and bar. I would imagine having to dismantle the actual screw and go in from either side of the C shaped piece to meet. But the screw doesn’t seem to want to come apart.

I am at a complete loss and being in Melbourne, Australia, Heidelberg repairmen are as rare as hens teeth.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance!

That’s a fiddly little bit… I haven’t done one, but my understanding is the taper-pin is extracted from the collar, the screw is threaded through fork and bar and the collar & pin replaced.

I’d consider removing the bar & forks to do the job on a table. Tiny parts drop easily into the machine, causing trouble.
