Kelton Intaglio Press

I’m getting my Kelton press together, not too many missing parts. The platen and the round head have been machined. Now, what to do about the felt and packing? What is recommended? I’m first going to run some plates found at a flea market.

That looks like a half cylinder or D Type Press, you only need 3 types of Felts, the Pusher on top, a thicker pressed piece of Felt, next a woven Felt and the size catcher, ditto a woven Felt. But as you need little pieces basically,
place a Request at
www.printpeople.ning.com and somebody might be able to help you.

I think you should contact Takach Press and speak with them on the phone. I don’t think I could promise but it’s worth a try, as they may be able to help you with either some offcuts or cut you some felts to size.

As a piece of advice- I think it’s a good idea to make the felts slightly bigger than they need to be, and then wash the sizing catcher when it comes in. They shrink when you launder them and air dry.

Yes, it is the half cylinder “D” type, thank you for the leads.
