PART-TIME LETTERPRESS TYPE STUDIO TECHNICIAN — Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University seeks a part-time letterpress studio technician to manage the letterpress type printing shop; assist enrolled students in for-credit studio coursework; supervise the activities of a student Letterpress Club; and design and production an annual chapbook commissioned by the Phi Beta Kappa Society. The candidate should have intimate familiarity with letterpress printing techniques, history, and typography. The Princeton type shop consists of two Vandercook flatbed printers, extensive metal type holdings in a range of sizes and faces, and sufficient quantities of setting trays, furniture, and leading. Candidate must be able to accommodate both fixed class schedules and flexible letterpress club and special University printing requests. A willingness to let students learn by doing is essential. Knowledge of binding techniques a plus.
