Height of a chase base

What is the exact height of a chase base? I’m thinking of trying to machine my own.

Would love to know!

Thanks

Depends on which photopolymer thickness you want to use. At least that is what they are almost all used for. The polymer plus base should be .918.

If memory serves it would be .875” for ‘standard relief’ plates and .853” for ‘deep relief’ plates.

howdy all, and Happy Print Year.

from the Boxcar website if that is what you want BBP:

All our Standard bases are inspected to be within .001” of the .875” thickness (flatter than some type beds). With the addition of the 94FL or KF95 or 94CHFB plate plus the adhesive backing, you’ll reach .918” type high.

All our Deep Relief bases are inspected to be within .001” of the .853” thickness (flatter than some type beds). With the addition of the KF152 plate plus the adhesive backing, you’ll reach .918” type high.

To put it very simply, a slab machined true flat to a height of .918 of an inch LESS the thickness of the plates you are using.

and the adhesive tape…
we use 4thou plate mounting film from 3M

Thanks for all your help people!!! Might give it a go in the coming months and see what happens.

for what it’s worth, you can buy 7/8” thick slabs of aluminum through multiple sellers on ebay. we used one for a while on our little kelsey with no issues.
