Disassembling Vandercook No. 4 Rollers

Hi all,

I’m looking for advice on dissembling my Vandercook No. 4 rollers to send off to get recovered.

I see there’s set screws where the arrow is (see pic). Do I take those off to remove the gears? Is there anything else I have to do or should be mindful of?

Thanks,
Matt

Hey Matt,

Here’s a great Flickr post that walked me through when I took mine apart and put them back together.

It basically walks you through removing the gear, clutch block (gears) and the bearing bars so all you are left with are the rollers and cores to send off and get recovered.

I’d take pictures and lay everything out where you have room and it won’t disappear on you.

Good luck!

Hey Carl,

That’s a fantastic resource. Thanks so much for sharing!

Paul moxon just released a book on vandercook maintenance and repair . I would also get something like that so you have a resource at hand.

Already ordered and it actually arrived today!
