C&P 8x12 Mover recommendations: NC

I am looking for recommendations for movers able to move a Chandler & Price 8x12 in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area
Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

An 8x12 is only about a thousand pounds, it can be moved on a trailer, or have a guy with a tilt bed car carrier move it, try a local towing service maybe, look for a guy who has moved machinery as well as cars.

Whatever you do, make sure the movers know to keep it upright! Falling on the side can break the crankshaft. And if using a forklift, lift from above using slings, not with the forks underneath (for the above reason).

If it’s already on skids, that can help.

z!

I can’t help with movers local to you, but I have moved two of these out of (and one of them into) basements myself and I’m happy to answer any questions you have if you want to do it yourself.

With a few friends to help and a few parts removed (mainly the flywheel and crankshaft) we were able to fairly easily get them moved. For the first one we rented a cargo van and had to make a ramp to get it up into the back of the van, which was a chore, so for the second one we rented a moving truck with a built-in ramp. For both we used a combination of moving dollies, pipes, hand winches, and diy ramps to roll the presses out of/into the trucks and basements.
