Advice needed-type

I need to know my options for getting rid of type that I have in various states of organization. Yrs ago I had aspirations of doing cool letterpress stuff but life and health issues got in the way. I now need to clean out my wares. The type I have:
1) is still in package and I plan on selling this.
Other scenarios are:
2) type partially packaged but has come apart on edges with type falling out. I think I can put this back into sellable format. But not sure really. How?
3) jumbled mess unsure what the font is, seems overwhelming.

Some advice has included melting the jumbled stuff… but where do I do this? (This feels wrong to do but i am not sure I have the patience or lifespan to sort it all. )

If you melt it, it’s only worth the value of scrap type-metal. Offer to sell it for the dollar amount you would get from a scrap dealer, depending on the face, I’m fairly certain someone will be willing to take on the task of sorting it themselves. If you sell to someone close by, they can pick it up, if you need to ship it, carefully bag and pad the loose stuff, and try to securely pad and pack any fronted stuff.

Would you consider donating to a museum? If so, where are you located? Perhaps we could arrange a pickup. There are tax deductions that you could use to make some value for your donation. Check us out at southcountymuseum.org We are located on southern Rhode Island. We have a living history letterpress shop circa 1900s.
